Pina Albo

Chief Executive Officer, Hamilton Insurance Group

Pina Albo joined Hamilton Insurance Group as Chief Executive Officer in January 2018.

Pina began her career as a lawyer in Toronto, Canada. After practicing in real estate, corporate finance and M&A, she accepted a position at Munich Re as a claims expert. During her 25-year career at the Company, Pina held increasingly senior positions which included Head of Casualty Unit, North America/UK and International D&O/EPL; Head of Casualty Operations at Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada and Temple Insurance Company; Executive Head of Department UK and Ireland; President, National Clients Division, Munich Re America; and President, Reinsurance Division, Munich Reinsurance America. Pina’s most recent position at Munich Re was Member of the Board of Executive Management where her responsibilities have included P&C business and operations in Europe and Latin America.

Pina currently sits on the Board of Directors for the IFG Companies, Blue Marble Micronsurance and Attune Insurance. She also serves as an ambassador for the Insurance Supper Club, an international organization that aims to improve networking opportunities for women across the finance and insurance industries.​

Pina has been a member of many industry boards including the Board of the Insurance Information Institute, the Board of the Reinsurance Association of America and the National Board of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation.

She has been recognized for her contributions to the insurance industry and has received numerous awards including the Association of Professional Insurance Women’s “Woman of the Year” (2011). She was designated a “Top Influencer” in Insurance Business America’s List of “Hot 100” (2014) and placed in Intelligent Insurer’s list of ‘Top 100 Women in Re/insurance” (2014 and 2015).

Pina holds the Maîtrise en Droit, International and European Community Law, from L’Université d’Aix-Marseille III, Aix-en-Provence, France; Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto, Canada; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Languages from the University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.


Drew Aldrich
Principal, American Family Ventures

Drew is the NY based Principal at American Family Ventures, a $200m Venture Capital firm backed by American Family Insurance.

He was previously with AXA US in Strategy and M&A and assisted in the development of and then joined AXA Strategic Ventures. Drew also co-founded and led CalendarFly.com, an education technology company and has been an active member of the NYC startup community since 2008.

He also has a deep finance background, getting his start in FX and analysis of esoteric structured finance products. He has led publicly traded restructurings, capital raising, and partnership negotiations on three continents including in North America (US and Canada), Asia (China and Hong Kong) and Europe (France).​


Sastry Durvasula
Chief Digital Officer and Chief Data & Analytics Officer, Marsh

Sastry Durvasula is Marsh’s Chief Digital Officer and Chief Data & Analytics Officer. With deep experience in Big Data, Blockchain and Digital platforms, Sastry leads Marsh’s overall strategy and delivery for all things digital and data. Previously, he was Enterprise Head of Data & Digital Tech at American Express, where he launched the company’s Big Data ecosystem and innovative B2C/B2B digital experiences.
Sastry plays an active role in leading industry consortia and is credited with several patents.


Allan Egbert, Jr.
Co-Founder, Ask Kodiak

Allan Egbert is an insurtech entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Ask Kodiak, a commercial lines search engine that helps brokers find commercial insurance.  

For the past 14 years, Allan has travelled the insurtech superhighway as a consultant, engineer, and product guy. He has worked in key technical leadership roles and led the implementation of critical insurance technology projects for carriers of all sizes. Prior to founding Kodiak, he served as the Chief Technology Officer for AgencyPort, a provider of software to the P&C insurance industry.


Kathleen Faries
Head of Bermuda, TMR

Kathleen Faries is Head of the Bermuda Branch of Tokio Millennium Re AG (TMR). Kathleen joined TMR in 2007.

Kathleen has over 25 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance market including property and casualty broking into the U.S., London and Bermuda markets as well as developing and managing captive insurance companies.

Prior to her current position, Kathleen was Chief Executive Officer of Tokio Solution Management Ltd. She spearheaded the expansion of TMR’s capital markets strategy with the start-up of Tokio Solution and Shima Re in 2012 and has been instrumental in building TMR’s reputation as a leader in the ILS arena. She is currently Chair of the Tokio Solution Management Ltd. board and a member of the board of Shima Re.

Kathleen is founding member and Co-Chair of ILS Bermuda Ltd which was instrumental in launching the ILS Bermuda Convergence event – a leading ILS networking event held annually in Bermuda. Kathleen also sits on the board of the Bermuda Insurance Institute (BII) and represents TMR AG as part of the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR).

Kathleen received the Bermuda Insurance Institute's (BII) Industry Leader of the Year award in 2015 and was named one of Insurance Day’s 2015 Power 50 Top Influencers in Reinsurance where she was recognized for promoting innovation and a bold approach to transforming the industry.


Michael Halsband
Partner, Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP

Michael R. Halsband has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, including in investment banking and capital markets. Michael is a partner in the firm’s Corporate and Securities Practice Group and a member of its Insurance Regulatory and Transactional Team.

Michael’s experience includes insurance M&A, structured reinsurance, formation and capital raises for start-ups (including extensive InsurTech representations), insurance-linked securities (ILS) and loss portfolio run-off ad administration. His broad industry knowledge comes from spearheading numerous business initiatives and innovative offerings at Sirius Group, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and Alea Group.

Since joining Drinker Biddle in 2015, Michael has built an innovative transactional practice and is valued by clients as much for his guidance on legal issues as his pragmatic and effective business acumen.


Alex Maffeo
Founder & CEO, Boost Insurance

Alex Maffeo is the CEO & Founder of Boost Insurance. Prior to founding Boost, Alex was a Principal at IA Capital Group - a leading fintech and insurtech-focused venture capital firm in New York City. Alex led insurtech investment efforts at IA and completed multiple portfolio company investments in the space including Sure, Snapsheet, Wellthie, SmartAsset, and Hamilton Insurance Group. Boost was incubated at IA Capital after identifying a critical need to improve the go-to-market process and timeline for innovators in the insurance industry. Alex brings startup and technology expertise to Boost to help evaluate insurtech opportunities with the most upside for its (re)insurance partners. Alex holds a BA from Columbia University.


Rashmi Melgiri
Co-founder, CoverWallet

Rashmi is co-founder of CoverWallet, a tech startup reinventing insurance for small businesses. Rashmi has over ten years of experience in the technology and media sector. Before founding CoverWallet, Rashmi was a strategy consultant at the largest North American TMT consulting group, Altman and Vilandrie & Co. A frequent speaker at insurtech conferences and outspoken champion for women’s leadership, she was the first licensed insurance advisor at CoverWallet. Recently Rashmi was named one of the 42 women in tech who “crushed it” in 2017 (TechCrunch).

Rashmi holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and an MBA from MIT Sloan.


Jillian Slyfield
Managing Director, Aon

Jillian Slyfield serves as Aon’s Digital Economy Practice Leader.  In this role, she addresses digital disruption of traditional industries and the on-demand economy.  Her focus areas are mobility exposure consulting, distributed workforce challenges and the Internet of Things. Jillian is tasked with ensuring Aon’s market leadership, technology platforms and deep analytics capabilities are harnessed for the Digital Economy.  She received her BS from Michigan State University and her MBA from Wayne State University. She is also a certified LIC, CRM and CIC. In 2017, Jillian was named a Business Insurance Women to Watch award winner, and in 2018 was a Risk & Insurance Power Broker award winner.


Robin Smith
CEO & Co-Founder, WeGoLook, a Crawford Company

Hailing from a rural Oklahoma town of just 300 people, Robin Smith is an unlikely startup founder and tech entrepreneur. But her business savviness, unique voice, and expertise as CEO and co-founder of WeGoLook - the world’s leading provider of on-demand workforce solutions for the enterprise - have skyrocketed her to success. 

Robin founded WeGoLook in 2009 to increase confidence in consumers purchasing online. Lauren Tennant Pollock
Digital Distribution Lead and Partner, XL Catlin

Lauren Pollock is the digital distribution lead and partner of Accelerate – XL Catlin’s internal innovation team that is focused on creating commercial opportunities that arise from new technologies and strategic partnerships. Her responsibilities include creating both new risk capital opportunities for the Company as well as leveraging data & analytics to deliver critical insights and improve the overall customer experience. Lauren is also working closely on the company’s overall innovation efforts within the insurtech space. 

Prior to XL Catlin, Lauren worked for Argo Group International where she was responsible for emerging market operation strategy and product design, working in both their New York and São Paulo offices. Prior to joining Argo, Lauren worked at Guy Carpenter & Company in treaty brokerage. She holds the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.

Lauren serves as an advisor to Blue Marble Microinsurance, a consortium of leading insurers committed to designing creative solutions to enhance insurance protection in underserved regions.

Lauren holds a BSFS from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.


Greta Van
Chief Strategy Officer, Crawford & Company

Greta Van is Chief Strategy Officer for Crawford & Company. With over 25 years of internal audit, financial and executive management experience in the public and private sector, Van leads the company’s long-term strategy across all global service lines and shared services while also overseeing Crawford’s sourcing, business development, acquisitions and marketing and communications functions throughout the company’s worldwide offices.

Known for her ability to achieve consensus through hands on leadership, her vision is to guide Crawford’s employees to provide enterprising solutions for clients while mitigating company risk and enhancing overall operations. She takes a special interest in building teams and developing employees so they can meet their full potential and consistently exceed expectations.

Van is also a member of various committees that assist in monitoring Crawford’s risk profile such as the IT Executive Steering Committee and the ERM Risk Council. 

Before serving as the chief strategy officer, Van was responsible for Crawford’s global internal audit function. In her career, she’s had a successful track record of implementing and maturing best-in-class global audit functions.

Prior to joining Crawford in 2014, her background spanned multiple areas such as internal audit, process improvement, financial accounting and controller, information security, business continuity, enterprise risk management, compliance, strategic business planning, public accounting, mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and post-acquisition integrations.

Van received her master’s in professional accountancy from Georgia State University and her bachelor of science in business from Clemson University. She was selected to complete the Emory Goizueta executive education certification in executive leadership. Van was also selected to attend the invitation-only KPMG Executive Women’s Leadership Institute.  She is a certified public accountant and a certified internal auditor. 

Outside of her career, Van is a dedicated mother and wife who enjoys baking, running and reading. She can often be found on the sidelines at her son’s football and lacrosse games or paddle boarding with her family


Snejina Zacharia

Founder and CEO, Insurify, Inc.

Snejina Zacharia, MBA (MIT) Founder and CEO of Insurify, Inc - the virtual insurance agent for car, home and life insurance. Insurify leverages artificial intelligence and natural language processing to simplify the insurance shopping experience. The company’s RateRank algorithms match its customers with the right insurance companies based on their risk profile and recommend the right coverage. Snejina has over 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship with consumer internet and enterprise software companies. Before starting Insurify, Snejina was at Gartner where she established and grew three lines of business, each with millions of dollars of annual revenue across the USA and EMEA. Snejina holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.
